Department of Electrical Engineering

Overview

Department of Electrical Engineering came into being with the inception of HITEC University in 2007.Our mission is to provide quality education at undergraduate and graduate level thereby producing talented and qualified engineers in the area of Electrical Engineering to cater for needs in the country and abroad.

Electrical Engineering (EE), one of the oldest fields of engineering, deals with the study and application of electricity and electromagnetism. Initially this field comprised the study of electricity and was largely considered to be a subfield of physics. It was not until the late 19th century that tremendous growth and development occurred in this field. It now covers a range of subtopics including Power, Control Systems, Signal Processing, Electronics and Telecommunications etc. Electrical Engineering is a diversified field that gave birth to many engineering disciplines over the decades, the most popular of which include Electronic, Telecommunications, Computer Systems and Industrial Electronics etc.

The Department simultaneously offers BS, MS and PhD Electrical Engineering disciplines. There are 652 and 52 registered students respectively in undergraduate and postgraduate programs who are looked after by 28 vibrant and academically sound faculty members. The Department is committed to pursue a proactive approach in order to maintain a qualitative edge amongst our competitors.

The objective of the undergraduate program is to equip the students with thorough foundation in basic scientific and mathematical knowledge, and in skills appropriate for practice in the field of Electrical Engineering. Interdisciplinary subjects are placed meticulously to provide required breadth of the program whereas advanced technical courses are inserted for requisite depth in the subject discipline. The graduate program, on the other hand, necessarily broadens the band of research in the specialized areas of Communication (Signal Processing) and Control Engineering.

The curricula and syllabi of the BS, MS and PhD Electrical Engineering programs are designed and structured according to the recommendations of Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

The Department holds highly qualified, motivated and, professionally sound faculty members, who not only excel in their respective areas of specialization but also keep themselves abreast of recent development in Electrical Engineering.
